I recently took a short tour down memory lane by listening to an audio version of Tribes: We Need You To Lead Us by Seth Godin. You see, I read Tribes when I decided to go on my own in January of 2009 and it led directly to the founding of the Lead Change Group. In fact, principles in that book, along with my own ideas about the importance of character-based leadership continue to set the direction of this group to this day.

So I thought I’d put together a series of posts on the history of the group, why this effort is important, at least to me, and why you should consider becoming a part of this movement. The book Tribes will serve as the outline for the series too. Each post will take a piece from the book and draw parallels to the history of the group, and why now, more than ever in the history of the world, it’s important for you to bring your best self and make a positive difference!

This will also serve as a page that brings together all of the posts.  For now, we’ll provide the following articles, each based on a section of Tribes.

  1. The Opportunity
  2. Something To Believe In
  3. Why Now?
  4. The F Word
  5. The Plurality Myth
  6. How to be Wrong
  7. Who Cares?
  8. The Posture of a Leader
  9. Errors and Deviants
  10. The Forces of Mediocrity
  11. The Obligation

Please check out the posts. If you’re part of the revolution, I hope they encourage you. If you’re not, what are you waiting for? We are proof there are people all over the globe ready to help you make a positive difference. You simply have to pull the trigger.

Another inspiring book along these lines is The Character-Based Leader: Instigating a Leadership Revolution… One Person at a Time. Lead Change Group just released this book and you can get a copy by clicking the title or at Amazon or Barnes & Noble.
