Co-Active Leadership, Henry Kimsey-House, Karen Kimsey-House, Lead Change GroupFor September, we are gleaning our theme from Co-Active Leadership, the new book from Karen and Henry Kimsey-House, which is being launched on September 21.
Karen and Henry believe: "People aren’t compartmentalized."
They employ concepts such as: A life purpose statement, another way of capturing the essence of what it means to be fully alive - living life intentionally, making choices that increase the value of life to one's self and to others.
This belief: "In the big picture, fulfillment is about living a life that is valued, purposeful, and alive, and balance is about choosing a life that is in action, aligned with a compelling vision."
This month, we challenge you to write about times when you were called upon to lead when someone’s work/life areas bled into one another.

Great theme this month and I am really looking forward to reading the new book by Karen and Henry Kimsey-House. They have been on my radar for years due to an earlier title “Co-Active Coaching” which is a well-regarded book in the coaching field.
I think most of us with LCG will find much of value in “Co-Active Leadership” – in a very real sense, this is preaching to the choir. Their view of leadership includes the idea that everyone is a leader and that certainly is one of the underlying themes of LCG – leadership is not dependent on a title or position, but comes through what an individual chooses to do in a context or situation.
I had to smile at the “Blurry Life Boundaries” phrase, since much of my early work life included more than my fair share of blurring those boundaries. I could give you contact information for my first few bosses and they would have stories about how they managed ME through some very blurry situations:)
Hopefully I will have some experiences to share on this theme which others might find valuable.

Thank you, John! I agree this is (in a way) preaching to the choir. Hopefully it will make us all double check to make sure we haven’t gotten “out of tune”! 🙂
I’m looking forward to reading what Leading Voices, Instigators, and Members have to say on this topic. My life is blurrier now than it has ever been – well since crossing the threshold into adulthood anyway.
I definitely don’t think you are alone in that feeling! Should be a great prompt for the month!
