Lead Change is changing – will you join our journey?

by  Mike Henry  |  Leadership Development

When we started Lead Change Group five years ago, my intent was to create a community of people who promoted character-based leadership, in other words, leading from “who you are” and not from power or position.

In our journey so far, we’ve connected with thousands of folks all over the globe, shared many ideas and made many friends, published a book and several electronic resources, webinars, and blog posts.

“Change is the law of life and those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.”
~ John F. Kennedy

The idea of character-based leadership still resonates with many people today. Our website, which was originally created as a community site, has evolved over the last year or so into more a multi-author blog. The site is in need of some upgrades and energy.

About two-and-a-half years ago, I took a full-time job with a technology company here in Tulsa. Because of my increased responsibility and changed job circumstances, it became necessary for me to enlist a partner and also consider methods of making the group sustainable and beneficial for the paying members.

Becky Robinson and her company, Weaving Influence, has been supporting Lead Change and doing the web site support since 2012. Becky has been generously donating her team’s time since April 2014.

And as of October 1, I am transferring ownership of the site to her and Lead Change is becoming a division of Weaving Influence. This is an exciting time for the community and I am thrilled to have Becky stepping in to lead!

I believe in Becky because she has been connected with me and Lead Change since the beginning. She understands my passion to mobilize character-based leaders. Equally important, Becky has a vision to extend the influence of this group and introduce new ways for us to support each other in making a bigger difference in the world.

What Changes? – Becky’s team will launch a new (more stable) site on October 1 with plans to upgrade further in the future. She has plans to host regular calls and also provide additional services like Instigator Pages in the very near future.

What Stays The Same? – I will continue to be involved. My support for the group will continue. Becky’s involvement and the members of her team will help bring new energy into the group.

You Stay The same – Those of you who are built the community and contribute regularly mean a lot to me; I have learned so much from you over the last five years, and look forward to continuing to promote character-based leadership.

What’s Next? – We’ve scheduled a couple of meetings to discuss the future and any questions you may have via GoToMeeting. If you are interested in attending, please email

Current instigators in particular will want to try to attend one of these meeting to learn about the transition to Weaving Influence. Becky has some great plans for making your membership even more valuable!

Thank you for being a part of Lead Change – and my life – these last few months and years. I’m grateful for you. I hope you’ll join me in this new venture as well. Let me know if you have any questions. More information will be coming as we move towards Lead Change’s new adventure.

Hi Mike,

Letting go of that which you have birthed is like giving your only child in marriage… you either lose a child or you gain a child and a few more family members.

Becky is a lucky girl… may this change prove to more than what you could ever imagine.
