Research in progress

We have not yet verified which interview intelligence platforms serve this segment. We rank interview intelligence software for startups once at least 3 products have that evidence; until then, this page sets out what matters and what we evaluate.

What we evaluate

  • Interview recording

Joins video and phone interviews and records them with candidate consent.

  • Transcription

Converts interviews to searchable text with speaker labels.

  • AI notes and summaries

Produces notes, summaries and highlights for interviewers to review.

  • Structured scorecards

Maps notes to job-related questions and rating anchors.

  • ATS integration

Syncs recordings, notes and scorecards to the candidate record.

  • Consent management

Gives candidates notice, records consent and lets them decline recording.

  • Interviewer coaching

Shows talk time, question coverage and feedback timeliness for each interviewer.

  • Calibration analytics

Compares ratings across interviewers and hiring teams.

  • Retention and legal holds

Sets retention by record type, deletes on schedule and pauses deletion for legal holds.

  • Access controls and redaction

Limits who can view recordings, redacts sensitive moments and logs access.

What matters for startups

  1. Fast notes and scorecard drafts

Busy interviewers submit feedback late or not at all.

  2. Structured guides for core roles

Fast-growing teams drift into inconsistent questions.

  3. ATS sync

Debriefs need all feedback in one place.

  4. Monthly or usage-based terms

Hiring volume rises and falls quickly.

How to choose interview intelligence software

6 criteria · 6 red flags

Choose on how well the tool supports structured, fair interviews and how safely it handles recordings. Better transcripts matter less than whether interviewers submit consistent, evidence-based feedback on time.

Run a mock interview during the demo: join from your usual video platform, decline recording as a candidate, then see the notes, scorecard and ATS record that result.

  1. Recording consent and candidate notice

Some states require everyone on a call to consent before recording, and candidates should be able to decline without penalty.

  2. Transcription and note quality

Notes that miss or misattribute answers undermine every decision built on them.

  3. Structured interview guides and scorecards

Asking every candidate the same job-related questions and scoring against defined criteria makes decisions more consistent and easier to defend.

  4. ATS integration

Recordings, notes and scorecards should sit on the candidate record, not in a separate tool.

  5. Video and phone platform coverage

The tool cannot record or analyze interviews it cannot join.

  6. AI scoring controls

Automated ratings of candidates can trigger bias audit duties in some places and screen out people with disabilities.

Red flags

  • No candidate consent step before recording starts
  • AI scores or rankings of candidates that cannot be turned off or explained
  • No retention or deletion settings for recordings
  • Scorecards that do not sync back to the ATS
  • No access controls or logs on who viewed recordings
  • Vendor uses interview recordings to train models without a clear opt-out
