What we compare

Verified so far: Cornerstone OnDemand. A side-by-side table needs more products to be useful; each value is checked against the vendor’s own documentation.

Capabilities in the comparison

  • Course catalog

Hosts and organizes courses and learning paths for assignment.

  • Assignment and enrollment rules

Assigns training automatically by role, location or hire date.

  • SCORM and xAPI support

Plays and tracks standard learning content packages.

  • Completion tracking and records

Stores completions, scores and certificates by learner.

  • Reminders and escalation

Sends reminders and notifies managers about overdue training.

  • Recertification tracking

Tracks expiring certifications and schedules renewals.

  • Reporting and export

Builds reports and exports learner data for audits.

  • Authoring and content library

Creates content in the platform or provides licensed off-the-shelf courses.

  • Instructor-led sessions

Manages classroom and virtual sessions, rosters and attendance.

  • HRIS integration and user sync

Provisions users and org data from the HR system.

  • Accessibility and mobile

Supports assistive technology, captions and mobile learning.

How to choose corporate LMS

Start with what you must train and prove: compliance courses, onboarding, role skills, or external audiences. Content source matters as much as the platform, since an empty LMS only delivers what you build or buy.

Then test the admin and learner paths with your own course file, not the vendor's sample.

  1. Content standards support

Existing courses usually arrive as SCORM packages or similar files, and playback problems are common.

  2. Assignment and enrollment rules

Manual enrollment does not scale and misses new hires.

  3. Completion tracking and records

Training records are your proof in an audit or dispute.

  4. Reminders and escalation

Overdue training is the main failure in compliance programs.

  5. Reporting and data export

Leaders need completion status by team without a data request.

  6. Content authoring and library options

You need a way to create or buy content, not just host it.

Requirements by company size

  • Small businesses

    • Prebuilt course library or simple authoring
    • Automatic assignment for new hires
    • Basic completion reports

    Watch out for

    • Per-user pricing that rises faster than headcount
    • Platforms built for training businesses, not internal teams
  • Mid-sized companies

    • Rules-based enrollment by role and location
    • HRIS sync
    • Manager dashboards and escalation

    Watch out for

    • Admin-heavy setup that needs a dedicated owner
    • Separate fees for content libraries
  • Enterprises

    • Multi-audience portals and granular permissions
    • Single sign-on and API access
    • Audit-ready records across regions

    Watch out for

    • Data residency and retention requirements
    • Heavy services needs to migrate legacy content

Red flags

  • The vendor will not let you upload your own course file in a trial.
  • Completion records cannot be exported in bulk.
  • Pricing counts every registered user, including inactive ones, without a clear definition.
  • Accessibility documentation is unavailable or says only that the product is 'compliant'.
  • Per-course or per-portal add-ons are not listed until the quote stage.

How we research

Ranked by the LeadChange Score, computed only from verified facts: capability coverage (30%), pricing and value (20%), integrations and API (15%), security (15%), fit and support (10%) and data confidence (10%), times a category fit. Products with too few verified facts are not scored yet and come last. Payment never changes a score or a position.

Read the full methodology

  • Facts, not impressions

Every input is a fact verified against vendors’ official documentation, with the date we last checked it.

  • Missing data is never assumed

Unverified items are left out of the score and lower its coverage; below 60% coverage a product is not scored yet.

  • Independent of revenue

Rankings never depend on whether a vendor pays us.
