How we evaluated Connecteam

This review rests on 31 facts checked against Connecteam’s official pricing pages and documentation, most recently on . We did not test the product hands-on: the score and the pros and cons use only those verified facts, as our methodology explains, and third-party ratings are quoted, never scored.

Our verdict

Connecteam fits shift-based and deskless teams that want a GPS time clock, scheduling, team chat and basic HR in one mobile app. Teams of up to 10 users get every hub free, and paid hubs start at $29 a month for the first 30 users on yearly billing. Each hub is a separate subscription, so the full suite costs about three times the entry price. It is less suited to teams that need offline clock-in, SSO below Enterprise, or full payroll and benefits inside the same tool.

Strengths

  • Free plan and a fixed price for 30 users

The Small Business plan is free for up to 10 users and includes all hubs. Paid plans charge one fixed price for the first 30 users, then a small rate per extra user.

    Evidence: Free plan: Yes

  • Time clock with location checks

Staff clock in on a phone, a shared kiosk tablet or an NFC tag. Geofences block off-site punches, and GPS can clock people out when they leave. Kiosk punches can require a PIN or a selfie.

    Evidence: Punch capture methods: Yes

  • Scheduling tied to pay rules

Managers build shifts from templates or with AI auto scheduling, post open shifts and approve swaps. Overtime rules, rounding and break alerts feed timesheets that sync to payroll.

    Evidence: Templates and auto-scheduling: Yes

  • Communication built for frontline staff

A company feed, group chat and SMS reach staff by team or location. Managers can require read confirmation, and AI translates updates and chats into each worker’s language.

    Evidence: Multi-channel delivery: Yes

  • Security badges and round-the-clock help

Connecteam states SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001 certification and GDPR alignment, with 24/7 support by live chat and email.

Evidence: SOC 2 Type II: Yes

Weaknesses

  • Each hub is billed on its own

Operations, Communications and HR & Skills are separate subscriptions. Basic on all three costs $87 a month on yearly billing for up to 30 users, not $29.

Evidence: Pricing model: Base fee + per employee

  • No offline clock-in in the app

The mobile app, kiosk app and desktop clock need an internet connection for every punch. Only custom physical clocks built on the API can queue punches offline.

Evidence: Offline and mobile capability: No

  • API and SSO sit on upper tiers

API access and webhooks start on Expert. SSO and two-factor sign-in for admins come only with the custom-priced Enterprise plan.

    Evidence: Open API: Yes

  • Extra fees for HIPAA and monthly billing

A HIPAA-registered account carries extra fees on every plan, and the amount is not published. Monthly billing costs $35 for Basic, against $29 on yearly billing.

Evidence: Extra costs: Each hub billed separately: Operations, Communications and HR & Skills each carry their own base price of $29 to $119 a month, by plan and billing, Users beyond 30: $0.8 to $5.0 per user a month on Operations, $0.5 to $3.6 on Communications and HR & Skills, by plan and billing, Monthly billing: $35, $59 and $119 base for Basic, Advanced and Expert, against $29, $49 and $99 on yearly billing, HIPAA-registered account: additional fees on every plan (amount not published), Seats added mid-cycle: prorated for the rest of the billing cycle, then billed in full, Cancellation: no refund of prepaid monthly amounts; annual plans refunded pro rata only within the first 30 days

  • Not a payroll or benefits system

Connecteam sends hours to payroll tools but does not run payroll or benefits. The free plan leaves out the payroll integration.

Evidence: Notable integrations: Gusto, QuickBooks, ADP, Paychex Flex, Xero, PrismHR, BambooHR, Square, Shopify, Clover, Lightspeed, Wix Bookings, Zapier
