Best for

  • US employers that want payroll, HR, time and hiring in one database and one login
  • Companies with many hourly workers who would use employee-approved payroll and daily pay
  • Multistate or multi-EIN employers that want one setup instead of several systems

Not ideal for

  • Buyers who want to see a price before talking to sales: every quote is custom
  • Teams that want to keep best-of-breed tools wired together: no integrations marketplace is published
  • Very small teams that need a self-serve payroll app they can set up in a day

How we evaluated Paycom

This review rests on 19 facts checked against Paycom’s official pricing pages and documentation, most recently on . We did not test the product hands-on: the score and the pros and cons use only those verified facts, as our methodology explains, and third-party ratings are quoted, never scored.

Our verdict

Paycom suits US employers that want payroll, HR, time, hiring, benefits and learning in one system with one login, and a single support contact instead of a ticket queue. Its Beti payroll asks employees to check and approve their own pay before each run. Prices come only by quote, built from a required Core set plus optional tools. It is less suited to teams that want to compare list prices online or keep their current point tools, since Paycom publishes no integrations marketplace.

Strengths

  • Employees approve their own pay

Beti builds payroll from live hours, expenses and deductions, then lets employees view, fix and approve their paychecks before payday in the mobile app. Paycom alerts staff and managers about missing punches and unapproved expenses during the pay period.

Evidence: Key features: Beti: employees review, fix and approve their own paychecks before payroll runs, Everyday daily pay by direct deposit or Vault Visa payroll card, GL Concierge general ledger reports for direct import, Benefits to Carrier enrollment feeds, Direct Data Exchange: usage and ROI dashboard, Global HCM in over 190 countries

  • One database for the whole employee record

Hiring, onboarding, payroll, time, benefits, performance and learning share one record, so a change made in one tool shows up everywhere. Approved time and benefit elections flow into payroll on their own.

Evidence: Modules: Payroll, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Time and Labor Management, HR Management

  • A broad security record

Paycom lists five ISO certifications, including ISO 27001, and annual SOC 1, SOC 2 and SOC 3 reports. It offers SAML 2.0 single sign-on, two-step login and an audit trail that is never purged.

    Evidence: ISO 27001: Yes

  • Setup done by Paycom staff

A Paycom team, not a partner, moves your data, sets up taxes and benefit feeds, trains the whole company and stays through the first payroll. Paycom says most clients go live within three months.

Evidence: Typical implementation: Most organizations are implemented within three months

  • AI search and rules-based time off

IWant answers plain questions about employees, applicants and policies, and Paycom says every user can use it at no extra charge. GONE approves or denies time-off requests from the rules you set.

Evidence: AI features: IWant: command-driven AI search of employee profiles, applicant data, company policies and dashboards, GONE: automated time-off request decisions from rules you set

  • Daily pay and a payroll card

Everyday lets employees take earned wages daily or on request, by direct deposit or on a Vault Visa payroll card, with reports to reconcile those payments against the scheduled payroll.

Evidence: Key features: Beti: employees review, fix and approve their own paychecks before payroll runs, Everyday daily pay by direct deposit or Vault Visa payroll card, GL Concierge general ledger reports for direct import, Benefits to Carrier enrollment feeds, Direct Data Exchange: usage and ROI dashboard, Global HCM in over 190 countries

Weaknesses

  • No published prices

Paycom quotes each client by the tools chosen and the number of employees, so you cannot compare its cost online. A one-time implementation fee is part of the quote; its amount is not published.

    Evidence: Pricing model: Quote only

  • Built to replace tools, not connect them

Paycom says no third-party integrations are needed because everything sits in its own database, and it publishes no app marketplace. Teams that want to keep a separate ATS or HR tool should ask how data would move.

Evidence: Modules: Payroll, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Time and Labor Management, HR Management

  • Core is required; more tools cost more

Every client takes the Core set of each suite. Tools such as daily pay, expense management, background checks and learning sit in the Complete tier and are added to the quote.

Evidence: Extra costs: Every client buys the "Core" set of each suite; the "Complete" tools of payroll, talent acquisition, time and labor, talent management and HR management are added to the quote

  • A three-month rollout is typical

Paycom says most organizations are implemented within three months, longer than self-serve payroll apps that small teams set up in days.

Evidence: Typical implementation: Most organizations are implemented within three months
